MEXICUE

You can be sure a large crowd of excited (and hungry) customers will arrive when a new restaurant opens up in Midtown; the grand opening of Mexicue was no exception. Surprisingly, there was not a long line outside of the restaurant but I was about to find out why inside...

While waiting in line, I decided to order the Kale & Quinoa Bowl with an addition of the Burnt Ends Brisket. However, the cashier told me that they were out of kale, quinoa and blackened brussels sprouts (basically the entire bowl minus the fire roasted corn). So I instead settled for my plan B, the Jamburrito and had to wait almost 20 minutes among a vast sea of other hangry customers.

The Jamburrito's flavors were an exciting blend of spices that paired well with the chicken and chorizo Mexican jambalaya. However, there was too much creamy chipotle sauce that overpowered the burrito and made everything inside a little too mushy.

My coworker ordered the seasonal Cajun Fish Tacos because they were also out of the ingredients for the Kale & Blackened Brussels Sprouts Salads. Her only comment was that they were "meh".

Mexicue looks like a fun restaurant to hang out with your friends for some tasty food and drinks, but for the regular lunch rush, you're better off eating elsewhere until they've perfected their take out process.
